SUMMARY:AI for Estimating & Preconstruction
DESCRIPTION:Two-Part Workshop is held WednesdaysJune 3 & 101 – 5 PM EDT \n\n\n\n*Participation in this workshop is for one person per registration. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Workshop\n\n\n\nAI for Estimating & Preconstruction is a hands-on\, facilitator-led workshop designed specifically for estimators and preconstruction professionals who want to use artificial intelligence to support\, not replace\, professional judgment. \n\n\n\nThis two-part\, live-virtual workshop focuses on where AI adds real value in estimating workflows and where human expertise remains essential. Participants explore how AI can assist with document review\, scope understanding\, assumptions\, validation\, and internal coordination\, while maintaining estimator control and accountability. \n\n\n\nThrough guided practice\, attendees work through a realistic estimating scenario using project documents\, assumptions\, and validation techniques. The session emphasizes practical prompting\, scope checks\, and RFI-style thinking rather than automated takeoffs or black-box outputs. \n\n\n\nBy the end of the workshop\, participants will have refined estimating workflows and begun building reusable AI assistants and templates they can continue to use and adapt in preconstruction work. \n\n\n\n\n\n. \n\n\n\n Workshop Outcomes \n\n\n\n\nUnderstand where AI adds value in estimating and where human judgment is critical\n\n\n\nApply AI to document-driven estimating and preconstruction workflows\n\n\n\nUse AI to support scope review\, assumption development\, and validation\n\n\n\nPractice prompting techniques that improve clarity and reduce risk\n\n\n\nIdentify common pitfalls and limitations when using AI in estimating\n\n\n\nBegin building reusable AI assistants and templates to support preconstruction work\n\n\n\nLeave with workflows and tools that be used immediately on real projects\n\n\n\n\nWho Should Attend: This workshop is designed for estimators\, preconstruction professionals\, and project teams involved in early-stage planning and pricing within construction companies. Participants should have a working understanding of estimating and preconstruction processes.  \n\n\n\n*No technical or AI background is required. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTechnology and ParticipationFor the classroom:– Please have Zoom downloaded.– Computer with dual monitor preferred.– Laptop or desktop computer. ((phones or tablets are not recommended for this workshop)  \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\nFor Participation:– Camera\, built in or added on and ready to stream to the classroom.– Headphones or earbuds with microphones are preferred.– Each student should be on their own computer/laptop\, if possible.– Access to at least one AI tool (e.g.\, ChatGPT\, Gemini\, Copilot or Claude)– Sample project and/or documents you use for estimation and preconstruction preparations \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCancellation Policy: \n\n\n\nA full refund will be given to cancellations made 14 calendar days prior to the class kick-off. After such time\, no refunds will be given. Replacements are acceptable and must be submitted via email to meetings[@]agc.org. \n\n\n\nAGC reserves the right to cancel programs up to 10 days prior to the start date if a minimum number of attendees is not met. \n\n\n\nQuestions? Email us at education[@]agc.org \n\n\n\n\n\nMeet Your Facilitator:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nZach Giglio \n\n\n\nZach Giglio is CEO of GCM\, an award-winning agency that shows organizations how to leverage cutting-edge AI technology to become more efficient and profitable. He is certified by the Wharton School of Business in AI strategy for business and is a curriculum committee member on AI at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Institute for Organization Management. \n\n\n\nRenowned for his insights into the fascinating convergence of AI and business\, Zach is a frequent keynote speaker at industry conferences\, a TEDx speaker and was recently honored as one of Charleston’s Forty under 40.
