DESCRIPTION:Classes are held Wednesdays and ThursdaysMay 6\, 7\, 13\, 14\, 20\, 21 3:30 – 8 PM EDT \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn-Person SMTC Course\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Course\n\n\n\nThe AGC Safety Management Training Course (SMTC) provides attendees training on the basic skills needed to manage a company safety program in the construction industry. \n\n\n\nThe SMTC program builds on Focus Four training and prepares attendees to manage key safety issues on the job site and provides techniques for delivering basic safety training to field personnel. \n\n\n\nParticipants will receive intensive instruction and training that will allow them to return to their firms with readily applicable new skills to positively impact their company’s safety and health program. \n\n\n\n\n\nTechnology and ParticipationFor the classroom: \n\n\n\n\nPlease have Zoom downloaded.\n\n\n\nComputer with dual monitor preferred.\n\n\n\nLaptop is good with a separate tablet to access their etextbook.\n\n\n\nTablet or phone is ok with hardcopy textbook\n\n\n\nTwo mobile devices ok – one for the meeting and one for the e-textbook\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFor participation: \n\n\n\n\nThis safety course requires you to be stationary. No driving during the course is permitted.\n\n\n\nCamera\, either built in or added on and ready to stream to the classroom.\n\n\n\nHeadphones or earbuds with microphones are preferred\n\n\n\nComputer/device mic and speakers are ok if in private\, quiet room.\n\n\n\nEach student should be on their own computer/laptop/tablet\, if possible. This will aid in learning and working within breakout groups during the course.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n. \n\n\n\nLearning Objectives \n\n\n\n\nIdentify the principles of workplace accident investigations.​\n\n\n\nReview the OSHA inspection process.​\n\n\n\nExamine the principles of fall protection management. ​\n\n\n\nDiscuss how to complete a job safety analysis.\n\n\n\n\nTopics covered include: \n\n\n\n\nOSHA Inspections\n\n\n\nSubcontractors & Multi–Employer Relations\n\n\n\nJob Safety Analysis\n\n\n\nEquipment Management\n\n\n\nSteel Erection and Concrete Construction\n\n\n\nElectrical Safety Management\n\n\n\nAccident Investigation\n\n\n\nExcavation Management\n\n\n\nConcrete Safety\n\n\n\nFall Protection Management\n\n\n\nBi–Lingual Issues\n\n\n\nOSHA Crane & Derrick Standard\n\n\n\n\nCancellation Policy: A full refund will be given to cancellations made 14 calendar days prior to the class kick-off. After such time\, no refunds will be given. Replacements are acceptable and must be submitted via email to meetings[@]agc.org.Transfer Policy: All transfers must be to courses starting within 90 days of the original course start date. Jim was instrumental in creating the first ever Construction Safety degree plan at Keene State University that awarded degrees to its first graduating class in 2019.Jim currently serves as the Chairman for Government Affairs on the Associated General Contractors of America National Safety Committee. Jim is also the Co-Chairman of Associated General Contractors Crane Task Force and is a national stakeholder in this subject area. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nStephen M. Kinn | MSOH \n\n\n\nPresident\, Elite Health and Safety Services \n\n\n\nStephen M. Kinn is President of Elite Health and Safety Services\, LLC. He previously served as an Advanced Health\, Environmental & Safety Lead for Marathon Petroleum and Director of Safety for Donley’s. In his current role\, he provides safety and health training\, management systems development\, corporate & project safety culture assessments\, OSHA consultations\, and incident investigations/management. \n\n\n\nMr. Kinn has a B.S. degree in Environmental and Hazardous Materials Management from the University of Findlay and a M.S. degree in Occupational Health / Industrial Hygiene from the Medical College of Ohio\, Toledo. He has over 27 years’ experience in construction safety and has been an OSHA 500 authorized instructor for 26 years with over 10000 people trained in the OSHA 10– and 30-hour construction course.
