About the Course
The AGC Safety Management Training Course (SMTC) provides attendees three days of training on the basic skills needed to manage a company safety program in the construction industry.
The SMTC program builds on Focus Four training and prepares attendees to manage key safety issues on the job site and provides techniques for delivering basic safety training to field personnel.
Participants will receive intensive instruction and training that will allow them to return to their firms with readily applicable new skills to positively impact their company’s safety and health program.

Learning Objectives
- Identify the principles of workplace accident investigations.
- Review the OSHA inspection process.

Technology Requirements
Courses are delivered via the Zoom platform; a webcam and mic are required for participation. Headsets or earbuds are strongly recommended. Registration cost includes the eTextbook.
Cancellation Policy: A full refund will be given to cancellations made 14 calendar days prior to the class kick-off. After such time, no refunds will be given. Replacements are acceptable and must be submitted via email to rockkie.dunton[@]agc.org.
AGC reserves the right to cancel programs up to 10 days prior to the start date if a minimum number of attendees is not met.

Meet Your Course Instructors
James Goss | CHST
Sr. Safety Consultant, HCSS
Jim Goss is HCSS’s Senior Safety Consultant and has specialized in Construction safety for over 25 years. Jim was instrumental in creating the first ever Construction Safety degree plan at Keene State University that awarded degrees to its first graduating class in 2019.
Jim currently serves as the Chairman for Government Affairs on the Associated General Contractors of America National Safety Committee. Jim is also the Co-Chairman of Associated General Contractors Crane Task Force and is a national stakeholder in this subject area.
Stephen M. Kinn | MSOH
President, Elite Health and Safety Services
Stephen M. Kinn is President of Elite Health and Safety Services, LLC. He previously served as an Advanced Health, Environmental & Safety Lead for Marathon Petroleum and Director of Safety for Donley’s. In his current role, he provides safety and health training, management systems development, corporate & project safety culture assessments, OSHA consultations, and incident investigations/management.
Mr. Kinn has a B.S. degree in Environmental and Hazardous Materials Management from the University of Findlay and a M.S. degree in Occupational Health / Industrial Hygiene from the Medical College of Ohio, Toledo. He has over 27 years’ experience in construction safety and has been an OSHA 500 authorized instructor for 26 years with over 10000 people trained in the OSHA 10– and 30-hour construction course.
